Woodsy overnight

low light = weird light

The bags are packed, we're off to Sandy and Mike's log cabin for the weekend.

It should be a smidge cooler there though the humidity is higher...I'll be glad if the mosquitoes are swarming less...that the June jamboree has left the woods.

I am looking forward to seeing my peeps.  I am looking forward to seeing Finn.  I am looking forward to hotdogs and s'mores warmed by the campfire.  I am looking forward to dipping in a lake.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend full of peace and love.

Puppy love

Cap came home from work (he is on a 8-5 schedule for four weeks) and I realized: oh my goodness this dog is in love.

Right around Finn's nose I see bear.  But, his side-ish profile is lion-y.

His mom and dad return Sunday.  He will be so happy.  We will miss him.

(Yesterday afternoon Finn told me...he does this barky communication thing...that he wanted me to take him home.  He got me out the door and eventually down the driveway to the car.  There, he looked at the hatchback door and then to me waiting for me to open it up.  He was patient with me when I told him I couldn't take him home.  Poor guy was a bit restless in the evening.  We finally got him some treats (beef lung) and they seemed to energize him in a different way.  His desire to transform every footfall he heard out in the hallway into Sandy and/or Mike was palpable.)

The nose knows

He has moved from this spot this morning...I swear.  (This is Finn feeling bad.)

Finn was left to himself for about half an hour.  He had the choice to hang out with the kids in their room, but evidently spent most of his time in the living room (I was in the kitchen beginning common meal cooking).

He sniffed out a paper cupcake cup from Gem's birthday party which someone must have tucked behind a small pile of stuff on a shelf that, honestly, I've been meaning to deal with.  (The stuff was not from the party, but from the winter seasonal table display...yup, winter.)

When I came into the room to check on him, I found 2/3 of the paper left on the floor.  I gave Finn a few stern "no"s with his face directed towards the evidence.  He felt bad, I could tell.  I feel bad because I know it's a primal instinct kicking in when he sniffs out something edible/delicious and I don't blame him for that.

But, as my sister says, the ingestion of odd or off things results in messy and stinky droppings.  And, that, yes, I would like to avoid (not to mention digestive pain for the pup).

Off to love up my sweet nephew dog and tend to more cooking.

Mama/papa shot

 a thousand words.

I knew he was sweet, but experiencing him firsthand is such a gift.  I am a lucky auntie.  My cup overfloweth.

Every time we have a dog in the house for a few days I pick up and rejoin the conversation I have with myself about having a dog.

Bleary-eyed

Pinging and ponging between WTF and it is what it is.

Insomnia again last night.  Triggered by Sag and Finn scaring the heck out of each other around 1:30am in the dark.

Scorcher today.  I'll be the one sucking in air conditioning while cooking and cleaning for common meal.  With one mid-day walk for a tired pooch.  He survived his first night away from mommy and daddy and boy is he pooped.

(This is not his usual spot, he prefers to be more in the room amidst the humans, or, on his bed.  But, someone upstairs had just come in or out which riles him up and brings him to the door.)

Watched Splice last night, which was just about what I expected in terms of level of entertainment (think B movie with cerebral type eye candy...heavier on camp than creep of which it had both).

Peace and love.
