I decided to make some to bring to the woods yesterday. I didn't consider color when I made the pie with the varieties of sweet potato I had on hand from the farm. The color of the finished pie was...unfortunate.
looked greener in real life.
But, I can pass along this recipe with utter conviction. The pie was delicious. I loved the pecan-maple crust. This pie was milk-free, egg-free, white sugar-free, soy-free and 100% scrumptious.
I couldn't find agar powder so did some research and subbed in some gelatin 1:1 (if you were to use agar it would make the recipe vegan, as intended). I also subbed corn starch for the arrowroot because I didn't have any arrowroot on hand.

I have sweet potatoes baking in the oven as I read this...although your pie looks much more scrumptious :-)
Your trip to the woods looked very nice. I hope getting back to nature helped to put you in a peaceful mood.
The trip to the woods was great. (More pics at the family blog, don't know if you saw those...)
But, today, I am not being hugged by the woods. It's nutty here as one of us is feeling better from being sick and three of us are dealing with being sick in various stages...
And we've got a birthday to celebrate coming up!
Still smiling, though :-)
Thanks for the reminder to check the other blog. Sorry to hear your household is in various stages of sickness. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.
We just ate the Crispy Roast Chicken from your shared items. Yum double yum! I would add salt and pepper to the outside of the bird, not just the inside as the recipe calls for, but other than that? I wouldn't change a thing. I'm thinking that pie is next. Mmmmmm ...Fall food!
Cool :-)
Yeah, I roasted a chicken last week and broke my two-plus weeks of meat-free. Roasted chicken is kind of undeniable this time of year...
