This made me want to cry. My oldest is in default on all his student loans, and he never even graduated! They call my house looking for him. Plus I took out a loan myself to help pay for his first year, and now the whole mess is starting all over again with my daughter.
I told her she needs to save every dime she makes next summer, so she doesn't end up in the same boat as her brother. The whole thing gives me agita.
Ohhh, hugs to you. I knew, vaguely, that the cost of going to college had gone up way beyond the rate of inflation in the last 20 years. But, this info on student loans...really shocked me. I had no idea.
