Hey hey he-e-e-eey
Gem's expressive melodic self bloomed this year, inspired by the Pokemon theme song. It's been there receptively all along, but he hasn't been one to sing out loud. (Though occasionally you might hear some quiet humming.)
Now there's another song that has caught his ear and voice. What a gift. I feel as if I'm hearing the song for the first time as the melody comes to me through his vocal chords, sung with his spirit.

Sacred singing
Sacred Singing today. A bunch of us gather once a month at E's to sing songs and break bread. We sing songs that communicate something to us spiritually. I spent some time this morning flipping through Rise Up Singing and surfing my mind and selected three songs to bring with me:
Somos El Barco (L. Wyatt), If I Had A Hammer (L. Hays and P. Seeger), and Imagine (J. Lennon) (follow the links for video clips of the songs).
It is my turn to bring bread this week. It has been an internally chaotic week and so I decided to buy instead of bake. I'll be picking up a Celebration Bread from a local organic bakery to bring with me.
Looking forward to communing in song and sharing food.
Namaste.

Sacred singing
V and I went to my friend E's house for Sacred Singing this morning. It was wonderful. We sang a lot of songs, chanted some chants...broke delicious bread together.
It was nice to hear/sing some old and familiar songs like Dona Nobis Pacem. A new song for me was How Great Thou Art, which I really loved. This video clip provides the melody, which is the element of the song that moved me most.
