oh em gee

This is so similar to what we've been dealing with Gem ever since we visited Massachusetts.  I haven't been driven as crazy as the author because it hasn't been as long, but I can really relate to her experience (and cringe as I think on how Gem would probably relate to the experience of the boy).

This certainly has me rethinking the advice we received from our family doc about the futility of visiting a pediatric allergist.

Oh, that was such a sad article ;-(

I'm of two minds on allergists. If it's airborne then yeah, the only things to do are medication or move to another part of the country so I guess it's not a big deal to know what you're allergic to (unless you're considering pets). But if it's food, I think it helps to know what you're dealing with.

I'm allergic to (among other things) "trees" and "grass", LOL! Not much to do about it since I'm not interested in moving to the desert :-D

Yeah, that was basically what the family doc was saying re: environmental allergies. Maybe it's better not to know the million things he's allergic to :-) Ignorance is bliss, right?

I've asked my nurse practitioner about having an allergy test but she also thinks if it's environmental why bother. Although, I sometimes think it could be food (probably sugar and wheat :-)

I feel for you all as I only had to deal with it for a few hours and I know it was starting to irritate me. I hope you can find some relief for everyone.

Thanks, Jamie. It has gotten much better, but still persists...which the family doc said was normal (if unfortunate).

Well . . . speaking for me, I'm a bit of an information geek so I'm glad I know what I'm allergic to even if I can't do anything about half of them. But for a kid who might be scared of the process, I probably wouldn't bother. Bridget didn't have a problem with the testing but Owen would have freaked out so it does depend on the kid.
