Walk in the woods

The kids and I have gotten some time in the woods lately. Last week with Lucia and Holly, this week with Sophia and Wendy. I love doing this, but feel too afraid to do it as the lone adult. A result of my experiences growing up and feeling unprotected when on my own and a molester would enter the picture. In actuality these encounters were so minor, but clearly they left a mark.

These leaves kept drawing my attention. I don't know what they are, but they are so ethereal and eerie.

And these spots of green really stood out in the landscape. We have budding and blossoming trees and bushes out and about, but the woods remain brown and dry.

I love how time slows down as we gaze, poke and wonder.

And explore...

And discover...

And absorb a natural environment so different from home (or in W's case revisit an environment near to one from childhood)...

Snapped this just before he cried out, "no more pictures!"

I love these photos! I like the use of color, black & white and sepia.

This looks like a very cool place to walk. Maybe when I come to visit we can go here.

Thanks.

My love of photography is reawakening (I used to take a lot of pictures in high school). Having this blog is a great way to tap into this aspect of my creativity.

We can definitely go to the woods when you come. They will look completely different, no doubt, which is part of the fun.

When are you coming? :-)

What a lovely wood! I love the pics - you did an excellent job. And I love the mix of color and black & white. Sometimes the B&W captures a mood so well - but then I love the color pop of the boys coats too!

They're all great!

Birch leaf, looks like.
I posted some pictures on my blog from the other day at the stream. I'll send you copies too when I get a chance.

Thanks, Jules.

Holly, there are many things I love about you. One is that you know the names of so many of the living things on this Earth.
