Yesterday, at the playground, First picked up the season's first blood red leaf. It was smudged with yellow and green and was a beaut. It passed through many hands and in the end, he plucked it from Kelly's fingers, wanting definitive ownership.
This afternoon I remembered the leaf, and inspired, announced I'd be deconstructing the summer seasonal tableau. First, who was watching the Wonder Pets Save The Three Little Pigs (quite funny), bobbed up above the top of the couch to say he wanted to create the fall table. TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) rocks. I am so grateful and moved at how much more connected he's been.
He began by placing items at each corner. Then he constructed the middle. He had other ideas and was reassured that he/we would be able to add things as the days pass and we find treasures in nature. (He was thinking about resorting to use pencils to make something because he didn't have twigs.)
The leaf, incidentally, had dried up considerably during the night and First no longer desired it.
First's first seasonal table. Enjoy.
