Sometimes growing up is hard to do.
Kinder went back to drumming and movement class yesterday after a summer away. He was resistant, cried, said he didn't want to go, that he didn't want to do any "classes". He cried at home and he cried once we were there. Once he saw Donovan arrive, a boy who was in the class last year and who is a special connection because he was in Lukas' Kindergarten class last year, he calmed down. We chatted with him and Kinder settled right in.
A number of kids, including Kinder, were invited to join in the second class. They are "tweens" now and straddle level one and two. He resisted this, too, but hung in there with my firm encouragement and enjoyed class with Kevin (the first class is led by Maya) for about 45 minutes. We ducked out early, 90 minutes of class was long for him!
Change of season, change of routines, approaching his sixth birthday, it's a lot for my second born, the one who seemingly has no filters, who feels everything so intensely and becomes one with those feelings, whether it feels good or not.
