38 Days :: 29

Me: Oh look it's past 5:00 and I haven't posted today's picture!

First: Take a picture of this!

Me: Okay. (It is a library book he picked up yesterday---to enhance his Mad Libs study of the parts of speech :-)

New video

I uploaded a Tomoyo Harada video to the side bar. I learned of this Japanese singer via the blog Kurashi (there's a link to this blog on the side bar, as well). I really like this song (and the black and white sweater she's wearing when she's playing with the apples!) I've asked my dad to pick up her cd for me. He'll be back stateside the beginning of April. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

38 Days :: 27 again

Because a picture of the humidifier really isn't enough. And this shot was snapped as we played cards waiting for dinner to cook.

38 Days :: 27

Reduced to taking pictures of the humidifier. I'm a home body by nature, but this virus induced laying in period is taking a toll :-) To its credit, the trusty machine has been doing its job and clearly eases First's dry cough.

He's also been asking, as of late, if we can see the "lines" behind him when he runs.

38 Days :: 25

Tools of the budget and the long, arduous drive through hard country and wild weather. Success depends on determination, courage, a resolute partner and a band of deeply knowing and unconditionally supportive friends (or cowboys in need of work ;-)

My homage to Lonesome Dove, which I just finished and LOVED.

A day in the city

The plating was appreciated, Iron Chef America fans that the kids and I are :-)

I don't like using forks, unless I'm using them as knives.

I'm full.

Auntie Sandy's birthday brunch.

Taking the bus to our final destination

"Manhattan" Toys R Us...

The gods of weather, birthdays and little kids were smiling down on us. The ten degree boost in temps could really be felt by this mama (from below to above freezing) and I was grateful to see how the kids have matured in their ability to do some city walking.

Thank goodness for Project Runway because our other destination work of art, Washington Crossing The Delaware, was not open for viewing until 2010 when they expect to be done cleaning and restoring it.

Our NYC celebration of First's second birthday was at the Boathouse and the adults were waxing nostalgic about that day, amazed at the passage of time.

I experienced a new layer, of energy, confidence, and comfort driving in and out of the city. Cap was home in bed (poor guy send healthy wishes and vibes, please) and taking over the helm felt natural. I guess I'm home.

Tidbits

Upchuck

"It's kind of exciting and shocking."

---First, upon learning that Upchuck's planet is extinct.

Tough night last night for First, two hours of pretty active stress and upset anticipating my being out tonight (to see Matt Pond PA!) and doing his best to convince me to change my mind.

This morning, taking a shower and then blow drying my hair (which I am starting to do these days as my hair goes through yet another awkward growing out phase) proved to be nearly meditative activities.

I had to laugh that I was feeling zen with a roaring piece of electrified plastic in my hands.

Words are not enough sometimes

Julie painted this from a photo I took of Kinder last year.

My photo was inspired by photos we took of him when he was a wee babe. He had a bit of jaundice and was born in winter in New England. One very sunny day, my mom rested him atop the back of our loveseat and he dozed bathed in sunlight.

And then, lucky for us, Julie was inspired by the light and shadows in my pic and this gorgeous watercolor was brought forth.

The menu for Ming Ting's (one of First's Webkinz) restaurant. I recommend the vegetable soup, french fries and chocolate.
